Every year, the BEAN Think Global Act Local (TGAL) campaign zeroes in on a precise international cause to make a difference in. This year, BEAN Seattle is supporting efforts to support Girls’ Education in Rwanda.
In this fundraising and awareness campaign, BEAN Seattle is partnering with local non-profit Rwanda Girls Initiative, is a locally-based organization that educates girls in Rwanda through what they hope will be a sustainable and replicable model for education, starting with the Gashora Girls Academy. Rwanda is rebuilding and healing after the devastating genocide with remarkable determination and is one of the fastest growing economies in sub-Saharan Africa. Rwanda Girls Initiative is confident that an investment in education and development will be successful in Rwanda due to its low corruption, strong and stable leadership, and commitment to education.
Girls’ Education
An educated girl invests in her family, community and country. Rwanda Girls Initiative aims to provide a high quality secondary school education for girls in Rwanda through a boarding school environment. By focusing on girls’ education, we can improve the lives and futures of individual girls, while creating a ripple effect throughout the country.
