Join BEAN as we get dirty at Marra Farm!  Learn about organic gardening while supporting a great cause.  We will be partnering with Lettuce Link, a creative urban agriculture effort of the Solid Ground organization that creates access to fresh organic produce to thousands of low-income families throughout Seattle.

No previous gardening experience is necessary - only enthusiasm for getting your hands in the soil!  We will be tending and maintaining Lettuce Link's Giving Garden.  Tasks may include turning beds, planting, weeding, mixing compost, creating paths, fixing fences, hauling wood chips, and doing minor repairs.  We may also be helping to set up a greenhouse.

We will be working rain or shine so come prepared for the unpredictable weather.  It is recommended that you dress in layers, with long sleeves and pants to protect you from the elements and prickly plants, as well as sturdy shoes that you won't mind getting dirty.  Also bring your own water and snacks/lunch.

Directions to Marra Farm, located in the South Park Neighborhood, just south of S Cloverdale St and 5th Ave S:

Southbound from WA-99 via 1st Ave S Bridge
Head southbound on 99. Go over the 1st Ave S Bridge. Stay in the right lane. Exit at the first exit, South Park/Cloverdale Exit. Stay to the left as the road forks. At the stop sign, turn LEFT onto 2nd Ave SW, which becomes 1st Ave S. At the next stop sign, turn LEFT onto S Cloverdale St and head east. Turn RIGHT at the next light onto 5th Ave S. One block before the street ends, turn RIGHT on S Henderson St. Go one block, and turn LEFT onto 4th Ave S. The parking area and entrance to Lettuce Link’s Giving Garden is on the left.

Southbound from I-5 via 16th Ave S Bridge
Head southbound on I-5. Take the Swift/Albro Exit. Turn RIGHT at the bottom of the off ramp onto S Albro Pl. Follow the road as it becomes Ellis Ave S. Turn LEFT onto E Marginal Way. Head south on E Marginal Way for 3 lights. Turn RIGHT and go over the 16th Ave S Bridge into South Park. At the first light, turn
RIGHT onto Cloverdale St, the main street in South Park. Turn LEFT at 5th Ave S. One block before the street ends, turn RIGHT on S Henderson St. Go one block, and turn LEFT onto 4th Ave S. The parking area and entrance to Lettuce Link’s Giving Garden is on the left.

Northbound from WA-509
Head north on 509. Take the South Park exit. Turn RIGHT at bottom of exit onto S Cloverdale St and head east. Turn RIGHT at the next light onto 5th Ave S. One
block before the street ends, turn RIGHT on S Henderson St. Go one block, and turn LEFT onto 4th Ave S. The parking area and entrance to Lettuce Link’s Giving Garden is on the left.

Northbound from I-5/WA-99
From I-5 north, take exit #157, and merge onto Martin Luther King Jr Way S. Turn LEFT onto S Boeing Access Rd. Follow the road to the LEFT as it becomes Tukwila Intl. Blvd. Merge onto WA-99 N. Take the Des Moines Dr exit, and merge onto Des Moines Memorial Dr S. Turn RIGHT on S 96th St. Follow the road to the RIGHT as it becomes 4th Ave S. After several blocks, you will see the parking area and entrance to Lettuce Link’s Giving Garden is on the right.

Walk west to 5th Ave S and turn LEFT. One block before the street ends, turn RIGHT on S Henderson St. Walk one block, and turn LEFT onto 4th Ave S. The parking area and entrance to Lettuce Link’s Giving Garden is on the left.

Biking from Downtown Seattle/Alaskan Way S
Go south on Alaskan Way, which becomes E Marginal Way S. At SW Spokane St, follow the signs to the bike trail across the Spokane St Bridge, using the path on the left side of the bridge. Turn LEFT onto W Marginal Way SW. Follow the signs to the Duwamish Trail. When the trail ends, turn LEFT on 2nd Ave S, which becomes S Holden St. Turn RIGHT onto 5th Ave S, and then LEFT onto S Portland St. The street turns curves to the RIGHT to become 8th Ave S. Follow this street south, and take a RIGHT onto S Cloverdale St. Turn LEFT at 5th Ave S. One block before the street ends, turn RIGHT on S Henderson St. Go one block, and turn LEFT onto 4th Ave S. The parking area and entrance to Lettuce Link’s Giving Garden is on the left.
