Description:
Join BEAN in an exciting service event with Habitat for Humanity, http://seattle-habitat.org/.  Habitat is a non-profit housing organization that partners with people from all walks of life to build decent, affordable homes for families in need.  An affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International since 1986, the Seattle/South King County chapter has partnered with 158 very low-income families to build simple, affordable housing.  With the help of volunteers, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (aka, "sweat equity") into building their Habitat house and they pay a no-profit, no-interest mortgage.

The project that BEAN will be working on will be at the Rainier Vista site in the Rainier Valley area of Seattle.  It will be in the second phase of a three-phase build.  More information on the project may be found on the website: http://www.seattle-habitat.org/projects/index.shtml

Signing up for this event will be TWO-FOLD:

1) If you are not already registered as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, you will need to register on the Habitat website, http://www.volunteerup.com/Login.asp?w=i&o=148.  Be sure to check the box for "BEAN" from the list of groups.  This will aid the Habitat staff in determining the varying skills levels our group can offer.

***YOU ARE NOW FINISHED WITH THE HABITAT REGISTRATION***
As long as you have checked the box for "BEAN" as the group, you do not have to sign up for the specific build project.

2) You must sign up here on the BEAN site so that you can be accounted for in our group.

******It is very important that you are registered with Habitat in order to attend this service event.  You will not be allowed to participate unless you have a Habitat registration on record with their organization.*****
