BEAN Seattle Blog

BEAN is coming to Beijing, San Diego and Other Cities Near You!!!
As you might know, BEAN has grown leaps and bounds since we got started in 2002. From the humble beginning of our first volunteering event (sorting donated food stuff at Northwest Harvest with 5 members) and first networking event (meeting at the Capitol Club's Blue Room with 12 members) in Seattle, we have became quite the global movement. We have 9 active chapters in Hong Kong, Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Seoul and Shanghai. Check out all the amazing things we did together in 2009 in our Annual Report if you are interested.

To add to our growing family, I am very excited to welcome BEAN @ Beijing and BEAN @ San Diego to the party. The Beijing team is led by Kinson Liu, a recent transplant to Beijing by the way of Hong Kong and Seattle who works for Real Networks in engineering by day. The San Diego team is led by Daylene Maughan, a long-time Californian but a Seattle native who works for WD40 in finance by day. If you know any young professionals who like to volunteer and socialize with some great people, definitely refer them to BEAN @ Beijing and BEAN @ San Diego.

Along this line of conversation, the BEAN HQ's Chapter Development team (Leigh Momii, George Lamson and JingJing Li, led by Skye Lee, BEAN HQ's Chief Operating Officer) would love to hear from you if you have know of any great young leaders in other great cities around the globe. We are currently working with interest groups in Austin, Chicago, Dallas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, Portland, San Jose, Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo and Vancouver. To see a full list of potential cities, go to our main website and scroll through the drop down list. Together, we can build a new kind of young professional civic movement the world has not see before.
